I am a Dutch artist, who grew up in Lierop, Noord-Brabant, and live and work in Wageningen and Amsterdam. Trained as a scientist, educated in entomology and ecology at Wageningen University (MSc and PhD), I am working as a full time artist for a number of years. Nature, biology, ecology and environment, forests, trees and landscapes are important themes in my scientific as well as my artistic work.
I developed my art skills by slow looking in nature, learn form art, observing work of other artists, and most of all practice, practice, practice... Workshops on painting with watercolor by Jan Baas (MK24, Amsterdam), a Westerdok masterclass by Rosemin Hendriks (ateliers Westerdok, Amsterdam), a workshop egg-tempera at the Vrije Academie in Amsterdam, online courses on charcoal drawing, on photography, as well as freestyle drawing by Jan Baas (Grafisch Collectief Thoets, Amsterdam) helped me to finetune my skills. AND, just recently in 2025, following a Risoprint weekend workshop at MK24, enhancing my colors. Workshop Risoprint: February 2025, see my blog on Kunst op de Klapstoel
