Instant coffee drawings

Freeze dried instant coffee is popular as a coffee replacement, altough it cannot match the original. What I found out, is that it can also be used as a pigment for drawing and painting. The color resembles yellow ochre, both are water soluble, but have totally different qualities. The early works ("Frühe Aquarelle") made by  Joseph Beuys, inspired in drafting small animalistic drawings in watersoluble instant coffee.

I already uploaded some big sized artwork of animals, in particular birds (50 x 65 cm). The golden brown color and water flow results in various tints of brown, depending on the ratio of pigment and water, and the small puddles were the pigment caogulates and dried. Be careful not to use too many coffee, as it contains (as I found out, not mentioned on the label!) small amounts of sugar, which can make it sticky. The ones showed are all A5 in size, Schut 250 g/m2,
